South Beach Diet Week 3

On the whole, I think this diet really help me in getting rid the sugar and carb cravings. I've lost 6 lbs total in the 1st 2 weeks. I didn't lose as much in the 1st 2 weeks as what the book says. However, I'm not overweight as some of the people who normally go on the diet. My weight was high normal. Another thing I learned was how to cook the SB way. I made a mashed cauliflower recipe in the past week that rivaled the creamiest mashed potatoes. I even made a pretend "Low Country Shrimp and Grits".
This program on the whole helped me to be aware of the things I eat and thus lead to weight loss and better quality of life.

Phase 1 Day 3

Hello there...so far I don't feel deprived. I am starting to feel pretty good (can be psychological...lol).

Anyway, I woke up this morning at 6:30am. I was running a little late to get my kids' lunch ready and to get them ready for school.

So, after my morning coffee, I decided to warm up a black bean veggie burger by MorningStar. I was beyond words when I saw little grains of corn inside the burger after I already ate most of it. I know next time I better read the label.

After dropping the kids off, I had my quiet time. Then I proceeded to my body test. Yes, I lost 0.4 lb! I'm now at BMI 24.59. Not as much as I would like, but like the book says, it's hard to undo years of wrong eating and gaining. I played with Wii Fit for about 15 mins, then proceeded to Biggest Loser Wii (full body light exercise for 12 mins), and cycling for 20 minutes as usual.

My mid-morning snack was my usual mozzarella stick.

Day 2 Phase 2

I woke up this am feeling hungry. It was 6:30am. I sure didn't feel like making an egg omelete at that time. So, instead, I made my morning cup of Joe, went to the pantry and ate 5 almonds.

At around 8:30am, I did my body test and found out my BMI is now 24.67... a 1.5 lb drop....I'll take that!

Happily, I did my daily exercise which include about 15 minutes of Wii Fit games and 20 mins of cycling on the stationary bike.

At 10am, I decided I should eat some breakfast and made my 2 scrambled eggs in olive oil. Then at 11am, I ate a reduced fat mozarrella cheese stick.

By 1pm, I got hungry for lunch. So, I stir-fried some ground turkey with squash and onion and ate that with the leftover veal from last night put into a cabbage, tofu, lentil soup. Doesn't that sound interesting.

My kids and I all had 1 stick of mozarella for afternoon snack. I chewed mine slowly with sips of water in between while they gulped theirs down and still hungry for a banana. :)

As for dinner, I must as well called my creation hobo stew. I opened up a can of diced tomato into my lunch leftover of cabbage and tofu soup. Into the soup, I put in 1 ladle of lentil from the previous night, 1 piece of tilapia, and 1 package of frozen clam. I ate 2 bowls of them and I was full.

At 8pm, I had my ricotta dessert again with a cup of decaf (stevia added).

Phase 1 Day 1

Alright, this is it. I'm just about overweight. I got to lose it before this body goes totally out of control. At this moment my BMI is 24.99. I have tried all different kinds of diet. After listening to the audio book, "South Beach Diet", borrowed from the local library, I'm willing to give this a try. I think this one will work for me.

I started out today with 2 poached eggs and 5 almonds after my morning cup of joe. I ate the egg white and decided I should just give the yolks to the dog.

Around 11:00 am, I had a reduced-fat mozarrella stick and 5 more almonds. I exercised for 20 minutes on the stationary bike. Then for lunch, I found a Rachel Ray's Recipe of Avocado and Veal. I ate some of that with a salad of romaine hearts, tomatoes, cucumbers, and 2 olives.

Another handful of almonds (about 8 pieces) at 4pm. For supper, I made lentil soup with cabbage, onion, and celery. I used some leftovers from lunch for my protein. It went well together. For dessert, I had 3 tablespoons of ricotta cheese with sugar free chocolate syrup and stevia, and a cup of decaf. So far, I don't feel hunger. We'll see what the weigh in look like tomorrow. :)
